The Korea Professional Football Federation has decided to refer the Anyang club to the reward and punishment committee in connection with the remarks of Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho, the owner of FC Anyang, who insisted on a "serious misjudgment and reversal of the decision."
"Regardless of the reason, we deeply regret the current situation in which the accuracy and fairness of the judgment have been questioned," the Korea Professional Football Association said in a statement on the 21st. "We cannot overlook the situation in which a certain club is discriminated against in the judgment, and furthermore, there is a baseless claim that the discrimination is due to the difference in the size of the club or the operating entity."
Earlier, Mayor Choi held a press conference on the 20th and said, "We have come to the judgment that we can no longer remain silent about the unfair refereeing decisions that have occurred repeatedly in various games in Anyang," adding, "There have been accumulated serious judgment errors at a level that can determine the flow of the game and determine the outcome beyond simple misjudgment."
He also said, "The K-League is managed by one of the few corporate teams. We need to improve," arguing that the civic team, which is run by citizens' blood money, is working hard despite difficulties, but the decision to look at the corporate team needs to be changed.
At the press conference, Mayor Choi called on the Korea Football Association and the Korea Professional Football Association to review the provisions of Article 37 'No Criticism of Judges' of the K-League Game Regulations, ▲ Strengthen fairness of judgment decisions ▲ Official recognition and disclosure of misjudgment ▲ Article 37 of the K-League Game Regulations.
However, Mayor Choi's remarks faced a backlash that could divide the corporate team and the civic team and cause misunderstanding of match fixing.
In response, the Professional Federation countered, "Although the classification of municipal and corporate teams is customary in the K League, there is no official distinction according to the club's management entity in the K League articles of association and regulations," adding, "The financial size of the club can be reflected in the difference in performance, but league regulations and game management principles apply equally to all clubs."
The professional federation also criticized the K-League rule, which prohibits public criticism of the decision, as a toxic clause, but the regulation was enacted in 2011 by the resolution of the board of directors composed of representatives of all K-League clubs, he said. "These regulations also exist in overseas leagues."
Judging that the press conference constitutes violation of Article 37 (6) of the K-League's game rules, which prohibits negative comments or expression of the judgment, and slander and loss of honor under Article 10 of the disciplinary standards for each type of reward and punishment rules, the Korea Professional Federation decided to refer Anyang, the team belonging to the owner of the team Choi Dae-ho, to the committee. The date of the committee will be decided later. 스포츠토토
This is not the first protest by Choi Dae-ho. In July 2023, he posted a message on social networking services (SNS), "As the owner of FC Anyang, I strongly protest against unfair refereeing decisions by the Korea Football Association and the Korea Professional Football Association," and the Korea Professional Football Association imposed a penalty of 2 million won on Anyang through a reward and punishment committee.
